Two-component PU wood imitation casting material — reproduces natural wood grain for decorative mouldings, balustrades, cornices & carved furniture. Customizable density 250-1000 kg/m³, Shore A ≥80, ~95% closed-cell, weather- & insect-resistant.
Our two-component PU wood imitation casting material is a high-density polyurethane system that reproduces natural wood grain, colour and texture for decorative mouldings, balustrades, cornices and carved furniture. With a simple 1:1 mixing ratio and a density that can be tailored from ~250 up to 1000 kg/m³, it delivers lightweight trim or dense, carvable structural profiles — weatherproof, insect-proof and far more durable than real wood.
Decorative mouldings and trim, balustrades and columns, cornices and crown moulding, ceiling medallions, picture & mirror frames, carved furniture and artware, European-classical furniture parts and architectural profiles.

The system is formulated to your target density — lower density for light decorative trim, higher density for dense, carvable and load-bearing profiles.
| Density grade | Typical use |
|---|---|
| ~250 kg/m³ (standard) | Lightweight decorative trim & mouldings |
| 300 kg/m³ | Detailed cornices & profile mouldings |
| 500 kg/m³ | Carved furniture parts & balustrades |
| 1000 kg/m³ | Dense, load-bearing & deeply carved structural profiles |
300 / 500 / 1000 kg/m³ grades available on request; other densities can be formulated to order.
Values below are for the standard ~250 kg/m³ grade; mechanical properties scale up with higher-density grades.

Prepare the mould
Use a mould with the desired wood grain/profile; condition materials to ~20 °C.
Mix
Combine premixed polyol and MDI at 100:100 (1:1 by weight); stir 10–15 s, by machine or hand.
Pour
Cast into the mould — cream 30–60 s, gel 75–150 s, tack-free 100–210 s.
Demould & finish
Demould the cured part; saw, drill, carve, sand, stain or paint as needed.
PU wood imitation is a two-component system. For a complete, line-ready solution we also supply:
A US customer producing decorative mouldings and trim required multiple high-density grades of wood-imitation polyurethane. BlendPolyol formulated and supplied the system in three densities to match their profile range, and shipped the full polyol + MDI package to the United States.
